Psychonaut

DEFINITION

A psychonaut is someone who studies the field of psychonautics, where individuals study changes in an individual’s state of consciousness. It focuses on different holotropic states, including those that are triggered or induced by meditation and mind-altering substances. There are numerous cultures that explore altered states of consciousness, including shamanism and Tibetan Buddhism, and all of them fall under the category of psychonautics. Anyone who uses altered states of consciousness as a vehicle to explore the human condition is known as a psychonaut. This is a vast field with numerous specialized areas and has been practiced since the dawn of human existence.
