Heffter Research Institute

The Heffter Research Institute is a nonprofit organization (501c3) that advocates for the research of hallucinogens and psychedelics, including psilocybin, in an effort to alleviate suffering and increase understanding of the mind. The institute was founded in 1993, and handed out more than $3 million in research grants between 2011 and 2014. Many of the studies that have been funded by The Institute have focused on depression and cancer patients, anxiety related to terminal illnesses, and treatment research for those who suffer from substance abuse and addiction. Many of the studies have led to the discovery of new diagnostic and treatment options for individuals who suffer from a variety of conditions.
